WHO IS AOTS?

AOTS (The Assocation for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships) is a governmental organization which is a subsidiary of Japan METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) established on 10th of August, 1959.

The main purpose of the organization is to organize training programs for the white and blue collar employees living in the developing countries.

Since its establishment, AOTS has been trained 395,000 employees from 168 countries by its training programs under hundreds of different titles. 195,000 of these employees participated in the training programs held in Japan.

These programs are subsidied by METI and ODA funds by 65% of the total costs.

1959: AOTS was founded with the name of The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarships.
1961: The first employee from Turkey participated in an AOTS training program in Japan.
2012: AOTS Japan and TISK (Turkish Confederation Of Employer Associations) signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding). 400.000 participants from 168 countries attended in the training programmes; 200.000 of them received the trainings in Japan.
2012: As being one of METI subsidiaries, AOTS merged with JODC (Japanese Overseas Development Association), another governmental subsidiary and renamed as HIDA.
2017: HIDA embraced a new mission of enhancing the commercial collaborations between Japan and other countries and named as “The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships”, and since renamed as AOTS again.

Now also carrying a research institute identity by having 71 alumni societies in 43 countries; AOTS also embraces a new mission aimed at enhancing commercial and economical collaborations.

378 Turkish participants participated in AOTS programmes until 2010; Turkey became the 4th in Europe and ranked 29th around the globe.

After the establishment of AOTS Turkey in 2010, 133 participants participated in AOTS Turkey Alumni Association training programs.

6 Japanese citizens had 6-month internship period in Turkey with the collabration of AOTS-JETRO-METI.
